About us

Skills Hub by YOTA is a creative space that was officially launched on the 27th of May 2021 out of the Pathways for Sustainable Employment for Women and Youths Project funded by the German Government (BMZ), Invest for Job with implementing partners; Youth Opportunity and Transformation In Africa (YOTA) and Plan International – Ghana with the goal to create a community for youth opportunity, collaboration, and innovation. Located in the prime area of Accra, YOTA Building, La-Bawaleshie- American House, East Legon. The hub is easily accessible for young people, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and just anyone looking for growth in their Employability, Skills development, and Entrepreneurial journey. Our goal is to primarily support young people to start, grow and sustain their businesses, and to build their skills for the 21st Century Workforce.

The mandate

Considering the high demand for talent in Ghana, we are poised to change the narrative through our bespoke core activities that support;

Support young people through business formalization, MSME Incubation & Advisory, Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, Digital Skills Training, Startup clinics, Business Registration

Support young people with our on-demand work readiness training such as; Job Search Skills, CV & Interview skills training, customized soft skills training, Career Guidance, Curriculum Development

The facilities in the fully-furnished hub include a well-resourced library, copy center, a computer area with internet access, training and meeting rooms, and co-working spaces that have been designed to meet the office needs of entrepreneurs and young people for business incubation and acceleration as well as having events within the meeting rooms. The cost for these facilities is heavily subsidized for young people to get access to.

Community building and management is at the heart of our work. Through our monthly conversation organized towards the last working week dubbed “Skills Hub Chat”, the hub invites well-resourced personalities to speak on thematic areas such as; Personal Development & Careers, Management & Youth Engagement, Branding & Fundraising, Skills Acquisition & Volunteering to a wide audience with different interests and needs.  We curate the atmosphere that allows young people to network and apply the skills acquired to improve on their personal and professional careers.  The hub is a member of the Ghana Hubs Network and participates actively in external ecosystem activities.
