Saved by the Discovery Zone
Losing a booked venue for an event can be a stressful and frustrating experience. You may have spent weeks or even months planning your event and securing the perfect venue, only to have it fall through at the last minute. However, sometimes losing a venue can lead to unexpected opportunities, and finding the perfect one.
The phone call I received just three days to a high-profile workshop I was organising for work almost brought me to frustrated tears. The unavailability of the venue I had booked earlier came as an unpleasant surprise. How could this happen out of the blue and on such short notice? As a new employee, I knew I couldnβt afford to let my boss and work colleagues down and consequently, put my competence in question. I had to think fast and pray hard that the situation would be salvaged.
In a frenzy of desperation, I contacted all the venues that I knew of, but was met with fully booked spaces due to the proximity of my event. I almost gave way to despair when a colleague recommended the Skills Hub by YOTA. I had never used their space and was unsure of the hubβs credibility but, I was a drowning woman who was all too happy to clutch at this proverbial straw.
I wasted no time in visiting the Skills Hub by YOTA to make reservations. Located at the heart of Accra, East Legon, it was a prime location for my workshop event. The managers of the hub were cordial and accommodating as they gave me a tour of the Discovery Zone, one of their spaces reserved for events, and all its finer perks which included; impeccably maintained washrooms, a kitchenette and CCTV cameras. The Discovery Zone also boasted of free high-speed internet for all meeting participants, a fully functioning Public Address System, a stage and a podium, amenities that were perfect for the workshop I was organising. After finalizing the setup arrangements, I left feeling confident that I had made the right choice.
True to their word, everything was in order on the day of the workshop. I was beyond pleased by how it all turned out. The Discovery Zone saved the day! Looking back, losing the original venue turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it ultimately led me to discover the Skills Hub by YOTA, an even better fit for my event. I even received compliments from colleagues about how serene and conducive the space was.
While losing a booked venue for an event can be stressful and disappointing, it’s important to keep an open mind and be willing to explore new options. Sometimes the perfect venue is waiting for you in a place you never thought to look, and it can end up being an unexpected and wonderful surprise.
